The Integration Foundation was established in 1998 in order to support multidirectional integration in Estonia. The purpose of our work is to create a society where people of different ethnic and language backgrounds enjoy living together – work, study, promote their culture. We would like everyone living in Estonia to have an equal opportunity to be a full and valuable member of our society.
Integration Foundation is a centre of excellence founded by the Government of the Republic of Estonia, which initiates and supports activities aimed at the integration of Estonian society and consults and assists people participating in the migration process. According to the organisational statutes, the Foundation is managed by the supervisory board consisting of up to 13 members, which also participates in planning of foundation activities and exercises supervision.
Integration Foundation activities are based on the three strategy documents
- Development plan Cohesive Estonia 2021-2030
- Integration Foundation Strategy 2024-2029
- Estonian Diaspora Action Plan 2022-2025
These documents support the goal of ensuring that the people who live in Estonia share the same values and form an active part of civic society, and that national minorities have the chance to preserve their languages and cultures. Funds from the state budget and external sources are used to finance the Integration Foundation, including the funds of the ‘Activities Supporting Integration in Estonian Society’ project of the European Social Fund. Activities are planned in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education and Research and other ministries engaged in the implementation of activities in the area of integration.
